Rik Davidson has been professionally mastering audio in Adelaide for many years now at RDMS.
In that time he has mastered commercial releases both here in Adelaide and for overseas markets.

By classic definition, audio mastering is the final creative process in producing a CD for release.
Mastering is critical if you want your music to sound it's best in a wide range of playing environments.
The Music business is a highly competitive industry and commercial CD's that have not been properly
mastered are rare indeed.


Typically songs go through a number of processes such as equalization, compression and excitation.
Fades and additional editing can occur, the end result being a professional sounding product that
is balanced and has a sense of continuity.

If you plan on retail sales and/or getting serious radio airplay, mastering is essential.

A typical song takes about 30- 40 minutes to master properly.
Getting the best out of a recording takes years of ear training and specialized equipment,
including a listening environment that translates the sound accurately into the real world.
Radio, mp3 players, car stereos and home systems all color sound in different ways.
A good master will sound great, no matter what it's played on.

You have several options for mastering at RDMS.
Personal attendance, by postal service or online using our Dropbox account.
